Reporting For Duty

I have always loved well-placed military details. Whether on jackets, shoes, or hats, military details have long influenced fashion and mainstream dressing. I am not sure if it is the strength and power associated with the symbols of military uniforms, or the classic shapes and attention to detail, but military influence on fashion has been so pervasive for centuries, you probably haven’t even noticed just how prevalent — bomber coats, safari jackets, peacoats, aviator glasses, brass buttons, and embroidered rope detailing, camouflage the list could go on and on.

Personally, I prefer to pair strong military details with soft, feminine fabrics and silhouettes. This blush billowy blouse perfectly balances the tough hardware of this jacket. My favorite part of this look, however, is this vintage sailor inspired hat by Lack of Color (my favorite hat company).
