Spring has finally sprung! I don’t know about you, but I am definitely ready to pull out the bright colors and easy skirts and dresses!
For a long time I resisted midi-length skirts and dresses. I assumed they simply didn’t work on anyone under 5’5″. Over the past year, however, I have thrown this “rule” out the window and embraced a longer hemline. I realized there were tricks or ways you could style this silhouette to work for those of us who are vertically challenged. For example, a button-up midi skirt is great because you leave open the last button, or two, to show more leg and lengthen your frame. I also always pair my longer skirts with cropped shirts. And remember, you can crop any shirt by simply tying or knotting it at the waist. A shorter silhouette on top paired with a longer skirt will lengthen your leg line, making you appear taller.
You can always count on Madewell and J.Crew to release various iterations of this button-up midi style skirt. A chambray version is a great wardrobe staple. But when I saw this fun rainbow-striped version, I couldn’t resist. It is flirty and fun and all the colors means there are so many ways you can style it! They also have a matching top, if you want to go for a fun, full-on stripe look.
Happy Friday!
