Is there anything better than spring in NYC? The city just seems to burst with blooms. My favorite areas for bloom gazing are Central Park, Flat Iron, the tulips on Park Ave., and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Thanks to this winter’s erratic behavior, NYC wasn’t quite in full bloom while I was there. But even in partial bloom, the city is spectacular.
My other favorite part about spring, besides the gorgeous blooms, are all of the pretty dresses that hit the stores this time of year. I am a sucker for a great floral print, a pretty lace, or a dramatic sleeve. Both of these dresses are as equally comfortable as they are beautiful and that is always a win-win.
When Julia Engel announced her dress line, I knew I had to try one. I love her romantic, feminine aesthetic. The line did not disappoint in terms of taste. I was, however, a bit disappointed to see that she really on designed for her tiny, slender frame. I guess we all go with what we know. While every piece looks amazing on her, I worried they would not look equally great on my top-heavy frame. I wasn’t wrong, but I did manage to find one dress that worked for me. I love the long length, romantic ruffles, and pink and blue color palette of this dress.
This pretty lace number from WAYF was a surprising find. Not only is it on major sale here, the sleeves make such a statement while the dress overall is a simple, comfortable loose shift. I love that it has a v-neck (always elongating) and came in this pretty, almost grey, light blue.
Both dresses are perfect for gallivanting around NYC in the spring!
